Our beginner classes are designed to build skills from the ground up, ensuring everyone feels included and supported as they embark on their journey.


What should I wear to my first class?

Come as you are in comfortable gym clothes.

We’ll guide you through your first class and, once you join our karate family, provide you with a traditional uniform (gi) as a symbol of your commitment and growth.


How often should I train?

Consistency is key to progress, but we understand that everyone’s path is different.

For beginners, we recommend starting with 2 classes per week.

Once I join BBMA, am I ‘locked in’?

You’re never ‘locked in’ to a program at BBMA - you can cancel at any time (and for any reason) with just 30 days’ notice.

Do you participate in karate tournaments or competitions?

Yes! For those who wish to challenge themselves, we offer opportunities to participate in local and regional competitions.

It’s a great way to test your skills, build camaraderie, and celebrate growth.

And if competition is not your ‘cup of tea’, don’t be concerned - at BBMA Hornsby, the tournament competition path is entirely optional.
